In the most developed countries, the significant entry of graduate women and legal professionals to the field of Law in the past decades has awakened considerable interest, giving way to a fairly remarkable number of studies aimed at revealing both the most quantitative as well as the most qualitative aspects of women’s participation in the various branches of Law.

In this way, besides considering the number of women in the various sectors of the profession, the studies analyze their modes of insertion and contributions to the diverse legal areas.

As is the case for most female professional activities worldwide, all the Law fields are characterized by a vertical and horizontal segregation.

Despite the obvious progress made by these women, the so-called ‘glass ceiling’ phenomenon still prevails. Indeed, in Argentina, in a period of thirty-five years, Law stopped being a decisively male profession to become a mixed discipline, with a high share of women.

However, it calls our attention that despite the major involvement of women in the world of Law, existing research studies in the matter are rather scarce and marginal.

Apparently, the issue has failed to gather the necessary importance at local level. It must be noted that by the late XX century and the beginning of the XXI, the considerable rise in the number of women as Law graduates has not been fully felt yet in any field of Law.
