Haydée Birgin - President
Feminist, lawyer, advisor to the Pro-Secretariat of the National Senate since 1983. Before, she worked in the Lower House from 1973 to 1976. In the 70’s, she joined the Forum for Human Rights and the lawyers union.
In 1983, she participated in the design of public policies, particularly social policies focused on women’s problems. She served as Cabinet Chief. Coordinator of the Planning Unit at the Women’s Under Secretariat. From 1984 to 1989, she was Consultant for the Program of Institutional Strengthening of the Ministry of Health and Social Action (UNDP-Inter-American Development Bank). She provided consulting for UNICEF, UNIFEM, ECLAC, ILO.
In Mexico (1976/82) she worked at the Centro de Estudios Económicos y Sociales (CESTEM) as Researcher in the Area of New International Economic Order (NIEO) specializing in the impact of global issues (NIEO, the energy transition and the food crisis) in women. From those years on, she has been part of the Latin American feminist movement, participating in several groups.

The challenge is to convey an experience of more than forty years in the struggle for including women’s issues in the social and political agenda and achieving an enriching exchange from different looks and approaches, not only due to the difference in age but also in education. Sofía Harari

Natalia Gherardi
Lawyer graduated with honors diploma from the University of Buenos Aires. She graduated as Certified Translator from the same University in 1994, and obtained her Master’s degree in Law with honors (L.L.M.) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, in 2000.
Since 1995, she has worked as lawyer associate at Klein & Franco. She is Professor of Law at the University of Buenos Aires, where she lectures Gender and Constitutional Law. She lectured postgraduate courses as professor in Gender and Public Policies and has published articles on issues of women’s political involvement, productive and reproductive work, sexual and reproductive health. In 1999, she became Fellow at the Antorchas Foundation and the British Council.

Gabriela Pastorino
Lawyer (University of Buenos Aires). Postgraduate studies in Domestic Violence at the School of Psychology of the University of Buenos Aires. Professor of Family Law and postgraduate courses at the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino and the University of Buenos Aires. External consultant to the Ministry of Justice of the Nation in the legislation reform on crimes against sexual identity and UNICEF in issues of family violence. Researcher and author of several articles related to violence against women and child maltreatment. She did training in family violence issues at the Domestic Violence Coordination Unit (Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, United States).
Laura Cecilia Pautassi
Lawyer, National University of Cordoba; Higher Course Studies and Ph.D. in Sociology and Political Theory, Free University of Berlin, Berlin (FUB), Germany (1991-1992); Specialist in Planning and Social Policy Management. National University of Buenos Aires, (1994); Doctor in Law and Social Science; National University of Buenos Aires (UBA).
Currently works as Researcher; Scientific and Technological Researcher Course. National Council on Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET). Institute of Legal and Social Research, Ambrosio L. Gioja, Law School, University of Buenos Aires.
Postgraduate Professor in various Universities. Area of interest and / or work: social rights and public policies, employment and gender, social policy with gender approach.

Leticia A. Kabusacki
Lawyer, National University of Rosario (1988);
Master’s in Law (LL.M.) from Columbia University School of Law, New York (1993), with emphasis in rights against discrimination for gender and race and feminist legal theory.
Professional experience in the area of women’s right: Colonia Psiquiátrica de Oliveros, Argentina. Member of the Interdisciplinary Team of Ambulatory Area (1988-1989);
Bronx Social Work Agency, New York city, research assistant in the Project of Assessment of Women subjected to the Methadone Program (1990-1991); Columbia University School of Law, research assistant for Professor Fineman, director of family law and feminist legal theory (1993).
‘As a lawyer specialized in gender, my goal is to contribute to developing effective strategies and actions to defend women’s rights, particularly the right of access to abortion in decent health and legal conditions. ELA is a group of professionals with prestigious background and commitment in defending women’s right, that not only provides me with the chance for development but also enriches with the input of its members, and its relationship to other organizations of similar spectrum at local and international level’.
Carla Zibecchi
Graduate and professor of Sociology from the University of Buenos Aires. Her first postgraduate training consisted in doing a specialization course in Planning and Management of Social Policies. She also obtained her Master’s degree in Social Controversies from the University of Buenos Aires. Currently, she is candidate for the Ph.D. course at the same university and university professor. She is engaged in research activities as fellow with CONICET at the Institute of Legal and Social Research ‘Antonio L. Gioja’ of the Law School. At present, she is researching issues linked to public policies and social programs from the gender perspective.
‘To me, ELA means the possibility to enrich my professional experience by participating in a new and creative space. First of all, it allows me to forge ties with other renowned professionals with different profiles and concerns, turning ELA into a stimulating, diverse and rich area. Secondly, ELA is a place allowing for learning and debating about problems linked to the gender approach, public policies, rights and equality. Finally, it represents an area for actions related to the promotion and defend the exercise of women’s rights, which has a great value for those of us who intend to promote rights in the current context’.
